[03:35.580 --> 03:38.940]  through the Rajasabha, though it is yet to come up in the Lok Sabha.
[03:38.940 --> 03:42.820]  Perhaps Vishnu, that clear indication was lacking and that is why the chair could not
[03:42.820 --> 03:44.220]  decide which way to go.
[03:44.220 --> 03:48.060]  The second crisis arose when what to do about the extension of the house because speakers
[03:48.060 --> 03:51.940]  were speaking till virtually as late as 11.15 in the night.

[04:25.740 --> 04:29.980]  The adjournments can be taken up, but there is a right of Vishnu that perhaps given the
[04:29.980 --> 04:35.580]  fact that it's a contentious bill and the Lokpal and the budget session is a very crucial
[04:35.580 --> 04:39.660]  session for the government, perhaps the government's first indication which we have got is that
[04:39.660 --> 04:41.540]  budget first, Lokpal next.
[04:41.540 --> 04:46.220]  So that is why the second half could well be the time of the budget send when the Lokpal
[04:46.220 --> 04:48.660]  bill can come up.
[04:48.660 --> 04:52.780]  In the eye of the storm, the government says the Lokpal bill is not in cold storage, but
[04:52.780 --> 04:59.420]  as Sandeep Pukan explains, the budget session in March comes with its own complications.
[04:59.420 --> 05:03.020]  The UPI never had the numbers to push through the Lokpal bill in the Rajasabha.
[05:03.020 --> 05:07.340]  The picture was further complicated by the Trinamool Congress who refused to support

[05:21.300 --> 05:24.980]  For the record, the government says it will try to revive the bill in the next session
[05:24.980 --> 05:27.300]  of parliament and the budget session of parliament.
[05:27.300 --> 05:32.340]  But the key question is, will the government bring such a controversial bill that may end
[05:32.340 --> 05:39.340]  up the political class, especially at a time when it has to pass important economic legislations
[05:39.340 --> 05:42.340]  like the budget and the food security bill?
[05:42.340 --> 05:44.900]  That's the key question.
[05:44.900 --> 05:49.340]  In a decisive setback to the Army Chief, General V.K. Singh, the Defence Ministry has formally
[05:49.340 --> 05:52.900]  rejected his appeal seeking to correct his date of birth.

[06:33.500 --> 06:38.220]  In this statutory complaint, the Army Chief had made it very clear that he is not fighting
[06:38.220 --> 06:42.980]  for tenure because if his age and which is there in his matriculation certificate as
[06:42.980 --> 06:45.220]  1951, he gets another year.
[06:45.220 --> 06:48.220]  But in this statutory complaint, the Chief has made it very, very clear that he's not
[06:48.220 --> 06:53.500]  fighting for tenure, but it is his personal honour that he is fighting for because he
[06:53.500 --> 06:59.340]  says or the Army believes that if the Chief of Army staff's age is being doubted, what
[06:59.340 --> 07:04.060]  he has stated is being doubted, then you are doubting the Chief's intention and the entire
[07:04.060 --> 07:07.300]  office of the Chief of Army staff is under a cloud.
[07:07.300 --> 07:13.060]  So it's basically a question of personal honour that the Chief has been fighting for.
[07:13.060 --> 07:17.700]  After being targeted relentlessly over allegations of favouring a former client, the Home Ministry
[07:17.700 --> 07:22.860]  has asked all officers to show drafts of letters if the letter says that a decision has the
[07:22.860 --> 07:25.780]  approval or concurrence of the Ministry.
[07:25.780 --> 07:30.300]  Shidambaram has said his Ministry has issued a directive to all officers that when a draft
