[01:03.400 --> 01:06.400]  waning Occupy movement. KTVU's patty lead was
[01:06.400 --> 01:09.400]  with marchers today who tell her they have plans
[01:09.400 --> 01:11.400]  for the new year. Patty?
[01:11.400 --> 01:14.400]  Well, more than 120 protesters march for an hour and a half
[01:14.400 --> 01:16.400]  to get here from Frank Elgawa Plaza now.
[01:16.400 --> 01:19.400]  The vigil is ending just about now behind that
[01:19.400 --> 01:21.400]  kiosk you can see folks are starting to leave and to get
[01:21.400 --> 01:24.400]  on to buses. Now today's events were organized
[01:24.400 --> 01:28.400]  by both the Oscar Grant Committee and by Occupy
[01:28.400 --> 01:30.400]  Oakland.
[01:30.400 --> 01:35.400]  Three years after he was shot and killed by a
[01:35.400 --> 01:38.400]  Bart police officer, Oscar Grant has become a
[01:38.400 --> 01:41.400]  martyr of sorts for the Occupy Oakland movement.
[01:41.400 --> 01:44.400]  Where the Occupy and Oscar Grant issues overlap
[01:44.400 --> 01:47.400]  is around police brutality.
[01:47.400 --> 01:53.400]  More than 120 protesters gathered to
[01:53.400 --> 01:56.400]  remember Grant at Frank Elgawa Plaza this afternoon before
[01:56.400 --> 01:59.400]  marching to the Fruitville Barred Station where Grant
[01:59.400 --> 02:02.400]  unarmed hands behind his back was killed
[02:02.400 --> 02:05.400]  New Years Day 2009.
[02:05.400 --> 02:09.400]  Earlier Oscar Grant's family gathered there
[02:09.400 --> 02:11.400]  for a private memorial service.
[02:11.400 --> 02:16.400]  It's a day first to remember Oscar and to not
[02:16.400 --> 02:17.400]  forget what happened to him.
[02:17.400 --> 02:20.400]  Grant's mother says Oscar's legacy lies in ending
[02:20.400 --> 02:22.400]  police brutality and holding officers
[02:22.400 --> 02:24.400]  accountable for their actions.
[02:24.400 --> 02:26.400]  As for the legacy of Occupy Oakland,
[02:26.400 --> 02:28.400]  undetermined.
[02:28.400 --> 02:30.400]  I feel that there's a lot of different people
[02:30.400 --> 02:33.400]  rallying for different things in the Occupy
[02:33.400 --> 02:34.400]  movement.
[02:34.400 --> 02:36.400]  Grant's family says the groups may not be entirely
[02:36.400 --> 02:38.400]  in sync, but it is grateful for Occupy
[02:38.400 --> 02:39.400]  support.
[02:39.400 --> 02:43.400]  My want to keep Oscars, name, and memory alive
[02:43.400 --> 02:44.400]  as long as we can.
[02:44.400 --> 02:47.400]  But others in the Grant camp are worried that
[02:47.400 --> 02:49.400]  if the Occupy Oakland movement embraces civil
[02:49.400 --> 02:52.400]  disappearance in the year ahead, it may dilute
[02:52.400 --> 02:53.400]  the message they share.
[02:53.400 --> 02:55.400]  They're not supposed to be doing things
[02:55.400 --> 02:58.400]  that I'm setting and disrupting here around
[02:58.400 --> 02:59.400]  else.

[31:20.520 --> 31:23.960]  Officers found two wounded, one man and one juvenile.
[31:23.960 --> 31:28.120]  The two victims were out of New Year's Eve gathering on Ridge Glen Way when that violence
[31:28.120 --> 31:29.120]  broke out.
[31:29.120 --> 31:33.760]  A neighbor tells us as his household watch TV, they were startled by that gunfire.
[31:33.760 --> 31:40.160]  Well, we were watching here and then we heard the gunshot with machine and then, uh,

[31:44.240 --> 31:46.720]  And just minutes into the New Year more trouble.
