[02:59.000 --> 03:04.000]  But Congressman, sometimes it gives the impression that the Republican Party has made the calculation
[03:04.000 --> 03:08.000]  that we are not going to let President Barack Obama have any triumph so that he does not go to re-election.
[03:08.000 --> 03:10.000]  And therefore we do not want to cooperate in anything.
[03:10.000 --> 03:11.000]  Is this appreciation fair?
[03:11.000 --> 03:21.000]  Well, I think this analysis is not fair because what we are against as a party is the policy,
[03:21.000 --> 03:28.000]  what President Obama wants to do, which is to raise taxes, more regulations on small businesses.
[03:28.000 --> 03:35.000]  He does not want to reform the complex tax system in the United States.
[03:35.000 --> 03:41.000]  And then to us to say no to those proposals and advance our proposals,
[03:41.000 --> 03:46.000]  people say, oh well, you just want to attack President Obama.
[03:46.000 --> 03:51.000]  No, what we want is to restore the economy, create jobs,
[03:51.000 --> 03:55.000]  and we have a terrible economic situation in the United States.
[03:55.000 --> 04:01.000]  And it is President Obama's fault, but we Republicans and Democrats have to unite
[04:01.000 --> 04:06.000]  because the public is unfair to all of us, without exception.
[04:06.000 --> 04:11.000]  Congressman, what is the argument for President Barack Obama to be re-elected?
[04:11.000 --> 04:13.000]  What has President Obama done well?
[04:15.000 --> 04:20.000]  The president has to do what he is doing, it is to fight, as he teaches us at this moment,
[04:20.000 --> 04:22.000]  to fight for the middle class.
[04:22.000 --> 04:28.000]  Let's see the shame that this battle with the Republicans in the House of Representatives was
[04:28.000 --> 04:34.000]  to pass a tax cut for the 160 million workers in this country.
[04:34.000 --> 04:38.000]  The president is not going to let go of that issue,
[04:38.000 --> 04:42.000]  just as he is not going to let go of the issue of reforming the immigration laws,
[04:42.000 --> 04:46.000]  although the Republicans are increasingly rejecting an effort to do so.

[04:50.000 --> 04:54.000]  the time has to come when the Republicans are going to work with him.
[04:54.000 --> 04:58.000]  Congressman, what has President Barack Obama not done well?
[04:58.000 --> 05:04.000]  The economy, he said that first when this plan passed, which was a total failure,
[05:04.000 --> 05:08.000]  the stimulus plan, which cost how much money?
[05:08.000 --> 05:13.000]  It is that every day it is a higher astronomical figure, it was a tremendous failure,
[05:13.000 --> 05:17.000]  it did not stimulate the economy, it did not create new jobs.
[05:17.000 --> 05:21.000]  But this did not come from President George W. Bush, a terrible economic crisis.
[05:21.000 --> 05:27.000]  Well, but each president has to assume responsibility.
[05:27.000 --> 05:31.000]  I think that after three and a half years of President Obama,
[05:31.000 --> 05:35.000]  it is time for him to say, look, I am the one who has created the problem,

[06:11.000 --> 06:15.000]  it is no longer the responsibility of President Barack Obama if things go well or wrong.

[06:20.000 --> 06:24.000]  the month that he took the keys to the White House,
[06:24.000 --> 06:33.000]  the economy of this country lost almost 800,000 jobs in that month of January 2009,

[06:36.000 --> 06:40.000]  In the last three years we have created 3 million new jobs,
[06:40.000 --> 06:43.000]  more than in eight years under President Bush.
[06:43.000 --> 06:46.000]  So President Obama right now is ready to say,
[06:46.000 --> 06:48.000]  we have not done enough, but we have done something,
[06:48.000 --> 06:53.000]  but to say that nothing has been done is not to talk about reality,
[06:53.000 --> 06:58.000]  and what we need to do is move forward, and that is what I think the President says,
[06:58.000 --> 07:02.000]  I do not care what politicians say or the political words that some throw,
[07:02.000 --> 07:06.000]  I am going to move forward for the people so that I can work.
[07:06.000 --> 07:09.000]  Well, I agree that we should not judge him for his words,
[07:09.000 --> 07:16.000]  I want to judge him for his actions, the facts are that we have a disastrous economy,
[07:16.000 --> 07:23.000]  that we are not creating jobs, that we are recording terrible taxes on small merchants,
[07:23.000 --> 07:29.000]  that he passed a health reform law that was going to have so much bureaucracy and so many taxes,

[07:32.000 --> 07:37.000]  so hopefully he makes his campaign based on the stimulus plan,

[07:41.000 --> 07:44.000]  what is he going to say to the Latino community?
[07:44.000 --> 07:47.000]  He is still going to talk about hope and change,
[07:47.000 --> 07:51.000]  where is what he has done in those years?
[07:51.000 --> 07:55.000]  Where is the leadership of President Obama with these issues?
[07:55.000 --> 07:58.000]  I would like to finish by giving each of you the opportunity to ask ourselves
[07:58.000 --> 07:59.000]  what is going to happen in 2012.
[07:59.000 --> 08:02.000]  Congresswoman Becerra, what do you expect for 2012?
[08:02.000 --> 08:05.000]  Will we continue to see more Republicans and Democrats fighting?
[08:05.000 --> 08:07.000]  Everything will be concentrated in the presidential campaign.

[08:09.000 --> 08:13.000]  Jorge, I believe that the people have awakened,
[08:13.000 --> 08:20.000]  I do not think that we will ever see a people that lets the richest in this country receive cuts in taxes,
[08:20.000 --> 08:24.000]  while those who work, the Republicans, tell them nothing.
[08:24.000 --> 08:30.000]  I believe that 99%, as they are called, have risen,
[08:30.000 --> 08:32.000]  and I think that will help us to accomplish things,

[08:42.000 --> 08:46.000]  who has said, for me, the most important thing is to see the middle class rise.
[08:46.000 --> 08:51.000]  If we do that, this country will continue to be the most important country in the world.

[08:54.000 --> 08:58.000]  Isn't it enough what President Barack Obama has done at the level of foreign relations?
[08:58.000 --> 09:03.000]  The death of Osama Bin Laden, the death of the Libyan leader, the end of the war in Iraq,

[09:05.000 --> 09:09.000]  I congratulate him, because those are achievements of the armed forces,
[09:09.000 --> 09:17.000]  and I think it is correct when President Obama continued with the leadership and the policy of George W. Bush

[17:17.000 --> 17:21.000]  have to get some very important points to continue to be relevant in the campaign.

[17:24.000 --> 17:26.000]  They don't have money, little organization.
[17:26.000 --> 17:29.000]  Rick Perry, in that case, would perhaps be the exception.
[17:29.000 --> 17:33.000]  What we are seeing in the polls is that a state like Iowa,
[17:33.000 --> 17:39.000]  in an assembly like Iowa, candidates who do not reflect what the majority could be in other states,
[17:39.000 --> 17:43.000]  if they have great possibilities, in this case the libertarian Ron Paul,
[17:43.000 --> 17:50.000]  has a point that is quite significant, has very good organization in several states.
[17:50.000 --> 17:56.000]  But Iowa does not mean much in terms of what you can say about what could happen in the other states.
[17:56.000 --> 18:02.000]  First, it is a caucus, it is an assembly that has very different rules.
[18:02.000 --> 18:05.000]  You arrive at 7 at night, you have to be registered.
[18:05.000 --> 18:07.000]  I'm going to give you some statistics.
[18:07.000 --> 18:12.000]  For example, in 2008, only 2% of those who were registered to vote Republican

[18:56.000 --> 19:02.000]  is that they have gone more and more to the right in their political positions,
[19:02.000 --> 19:07.000]  even in the immigrant position, which I imagine we will discuss later.
[19:07.000 --> 19:14.000]  But also in matters of the treatment, how the country would be managed,
[19:14.000 --> 19:19.000]  who is the person who is going to criticize President Obama more.
[19:19.000 --> 19:23.000]  And these debates have gone more and more negatively,
[19:23.000 --> 19:29.000]  to the point that Republican voters are not decided on who will be the candidate
[19:29.000 --> 19:33.000]  that will represent them against President Obama in the November election.
