[04:03.320 --> 04:07.080]  It's all fairly tightly bunched, not within the statistical

[04:14.040 --> 04:17.480]  he is closer to second, maybe one or two points out there.

[05:03.400 --> 05:09.160]  get one of the tickets out of here to move on and expect some
[05:09.160 --> 05:12.840]  real momentum going into, say, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

[07:04.120 --> 07:08.840]  and ask if they're going to go to the precincts on caucus night.

[07:12.840 --> 07:17.480]  We polled 602 individuals, so it's a big sample size,
[07:17.480 --> 07:22.040]  but still our pollster and selser will tell you there are all sorts of factors
[07:22.040 --> 07:25.160]  that make a polling for the caucuses very tricky.
[07:25.160 --> 07:28.920]  And there are all sorts of factors that come into whether people show up

[07:52.760 --> 07:59.000]  But now, it does come down to getting those caucus goers out on Tuesday night.
[07:59.000 --> 08:02.120]  The general rule of thumb is thought that if it's really bad
[08:02.120 --> 08:05.400]  whether that Ron Paul might benefit,
[08:05.400 --> 08:09.320]  because he does have this very loyal group of followers.
[08:09.320 --> 08:14.280]  But you can bet that all of the campaigns are out making their final touches.

[08:23.320 --> 08:28.040]  It's about touching caucus goers calling them, having another Iowa

[08:47.240 --> 08:51.240]  Yes, I think it's very tough if you fall out of that top three,

[09:00.920 --> 09:06.440]  So as much as confidence as someone like a Michelle Bachman does express

[13:37.240 --> 13:40.120]  I don't know it to what extent it's helped, it can't hurt.

[14:28.120 --> 14:33.400]  the most common detail is that these cars are parked, most of them are parked in ground level
[14:33.400 --> 14:37.240]  parking garages with an apartment building that overhangs the garage.
[14:37.240 --> 14:44.440]  So they light the fire in the car and the flames then rise to the second floor and several cases
[14:44.440 --> 14:46.360]  have engulfed the apartment buildings involved.
[14:46.360 --> 14:50.840]  Fortunately, no one has been hurt or killed to this point, but I think that's just a matter
[14:50.840 --> 14:51.800]  of luck.
[14:51.800 --> 14:53.640]  People are being very vigilant in the communities.
[14:53.640 --> 14:55.960]  The communities in question are very dense communities.
[14:55.960 --> 15:01.480]  A apartment houses, they're not a lot of room, so the fire gets through the car and into the
[15:01.480 --> 15:04.600]  building and you're in a conflagration.
[15:04.600 --> 15:08.760]  But people are being very vigilant and we're asking people to be vigilant.
[15:08.760 --> 15:15.160]  If they see any suspicions activity around a car or a parking garage, to call 911 immediately.

[29:13.240 --> 29:16.360]  coming onto the books today. Let's start with North Carolina.
[29:16.360 --> 29:20.600]  There, people who live overseas are going to have an easier time registering to vote
[29:20.600 --> 29:23.560]  and voting, whether they're service members or civilians.
[29:23.560 --> 29:26.360]  Let's move on to California, interesting new law there.
[29:26.360 --> 29:29.400]  joins the state to the national popular vote compact.
[29:29.400 --> 29:33.400]  Now, that's agreement among several states to give all of their electoral votes
[29:33.400 --> 29:36.520]  to the candidate who wins the nationwide popular vote.
[29:36.520 --> 29:40.680]  Now, of course, it doesn't go into effect until states that hold 270 electoral votes.
[29:40.680 --> 29:43.720]  That's what it takes to win the presidency, have passed the law.
[29:43.720 --> 29:45.080]  They're about halfway there.
[29:45.080 --> 29:47.720]  Several more states have to pass before it goes into effect.
[29:47.720 --> 29:51.400]  Another interesting California law will allow new citizens to register a
[29:51.400 --> 29:55.080]  vote and to vote all the way up to you and through election day.
[29:55.080 --> 29:57.560]  Now, one big thing that's been a trend this past year with
[29:57.560 --> 30:01.400]  state legislatures across the country has been voter ID laws.
[30:01.400 --> 30:06.280]  As of right now, some 31 states require some form of identification to vote,
[30:06.280 --> 30:08.200]  whether it's a photo or without a photo.
[30:08.200 --> 30:11.960]  And starting today, voters in Tennessee and Kansas,
[30:11.960 --> 30:15.160]  will be required to present a photo ID in order to vote.
[30:15.160 --> 30:18.680]  I should mention that Texas has also passed a photo ID law,
[30:18.680 --> 30:22.680]  but under the voting rights that has to be pre-cleared by the Department of Justice
[30:22.680 --> 30:24.120]  before it can go into effect.
[30:24.120 --> 30:27.000]  And I should note also that the DOJ just denied
[30:27.000 --> 30:30.600]  pre-clearance to South Carolina for its photo ID law.
[30:30.600 --> 30:33.720]  One more thing I want to mention with an interesting new law is Tennessee.
[30:33.720 --> 30:35.880]  State officials, they are state election officials,
[30:35.880 --> 30:40.360]  will now be required to go through the state voter roles and compare those to a
[30:40.360 --> 30:44.280]  database to make sure that no non-citizens are registered to vote.
[30:44.280 --> 30:46.840]  And if there's any evidence that that might be the case,
[30:46.840 --> 30:50.760]  those folks will be contacted and asked to prove that they are citizens.
[30:50.760 --> 30:53.480]  So, a lot of new laws come into effect this year.
[30:53.480 --> 30:56.440]  Of course, with these voter identification laws,
[30:56.440 --> 31:00.840]  proponents say what they're trying to fight fraud, critics on the other hand argue that
[31:00.840 --> 31:05.080]  they're going to end up disenfranchising some voters, especially poor and minority voters.
[31:05.080 --> 31:08.440]  But one thing we could be pretty sure of this year is that as we approach no
[31:08.440 --> 31:12.520]  November, more and more states will begin to roll out more laws effect in the election.
[31:12.520 --> 31:13.720]  Okay, it's the end of June.

[35:58.560 --> 36:01.360]  And so the first thing I want to talk about is you got the little bit of debt where you
[36:01.360 --> 36:05.560]  just fell a little too much over the holidays or you've got the massive debt from three
[36:05.560 --> 36:07.200]  really tough economic years.
[36:07.200 --> 36:09.640]  So let's first tackle the small amount of debt.
[36:09.640 --> 36:10.640]  Okay.
[36:10.640 --> 36:14.640]  So what we want you to do with that is first go back to the budget and figure out how much
[36:14.640 --> 36:18.920]  you actually can pay towards debt monthly, the minimum amount that you can pay.
[36:18.920 --> 36:23.520]  And then I'd like to see you set it up as an automatic payment from your online banking
[36:23.520 --> 36:24.520]  right to the credit.
[36:24.520 --> 36:28.720]  That way, no excuses, you know, over spending can't write out the check that it off.
[36:28.720 --> 36:29.720]  That's right.
[36:29.720 --> 36:31.800]  If we wait to the end of the month, there's usually nothing left.
[36:31.800 --> 36:36.600]  So if you can automate it and during that time, of course, freeze your credit, do the
[36:36.600 --> 36:40.400]  math figure out how many months it's going to take, plan a little reward for yourself at
[36:40.400 --> 36:41.800]  the end and hopefully you'll clear it.
[36:41.800 --> 36:44.200]  When you say freeze your credit, you're just talking about self discipline.
[36:44.200 --> 36:47.680]  So you're actually like, okay, now if you don't have self discipline and it's to
[36:47.680 --> 36:51.600]  friend to take your cards away from you, but yes, don't add anything more to that.
[36:51.600 --> 36:52.600]  Okay.
[36:52.600 --> 36:56.040]  But now let's talk about big stuff, probably more Americans, because it has, it's been
[36:56.040 --> 36:57.040]  three, really.
[36:57.040 --> 37:00.680]  Yeah, a lot of people have been out of work, so they have borrowed borrowed, they've over
[37:00.680 --> 37:02.080]  spent just to survive.
[37:02.080 --> 37:03.080]  So yeah, massive debt.
[37:03.080 --> 37:06.480]  What I'm going to say to those people is just like if you've got massive amounts of
[37:06.480 --> 37:09.600]  weight to lose, let's make a realistic goal.
[37:09.600 --> 37:13.080]  If this happened over a period of years, don't think you're going to pay it off in six
[37:13.080 --> 37:14.080]  months.
[37:14.080 --> 37:18.560]  The first thing we want to do is again, go back to the math, figure out how much monthly
[37:18.560 --> 37:22.160]  you can free up to put towards debt and then figure out how long it's going to take
[37:22.160 --> 37:25.000]  and make the goal realistic, and if it's going to be a couple of years.
[37:25.000 --> 37:26.000]  Yeah.
[37:26.000 --> 37:29.200]  Because that's a hard part isn't that folks are trying to figure out how do I calculate, how
[37:29.200 --> 37:30.200]  to do that.
[37:30.200 --> 37:34.520]  So that's another point I want to say for people that really have lots of cards, lots
[37:34.520 --> 37:40.080]  of high interest rates, get some help, seek a consumer credit council type firm, often
[37:40.080 --> 37:43.640]  they can negotiate with the credit card companies for lower interest rates for you, as
[37:43.640 --> 37:45.880]  long as you're partnering with someone like that.
[37:45.880 --> 37:47.680]  And now you want to save money.
[37:47.680 --> 37:48.680]  Right.
[37:48.680 --> 37:51.520]  And you want to do this simultaneously if they would be nice if you could.
[37:51.520 --> 37:52.520]  Okay.
[37:52.520 --> 37:55.680]  So, say you've tackled the debt part that maybe you're not doing it simultaneously.
[37:55.680 --> 37:56.680]  How do you say?
[37:56.680 --> 37:58.080]  Well, let's talk about first.
[37:58.080 --> 38:01.880]  There's two things people tend to want to say for one, especially now, is just having that
[38:01.880 --> 38:02.880]  emergency money.
[38:02.880 --> 38:03.880]  Yeah.
[38:03.880 --> 38:04.880]  For that stuff that just comes up.
[38:04.880 --> 38:07.360]  So let's talk about short term savings first.
[38:07.360 --> 38:09.400]  Again, automate it.
[38:09.400 --> 38:13.360]  If you wait till you've paid your other bills, there will not be anything left at the
[38:13.360 --> 38:14.360]  end of the month.
[38:14.360 --> 38:20.160]  So, many companies will allow you to set up from your paycheck, just like for your 401k,
[38:20.160 --> 38:25.200]  an automatic draft into a credit union or a money market, whether it's $5, $10, $50 each
[38:25.200 --> 38:30.000]  check, get it started and you can't touch it unless it's really an emergency.
[38:30.000 --> 38:32.800]  You try and come up with a percentage on that or just what you can afford.
[38:32.800 --> 38:37.200]  Really what you can afford initially, you could also start with the goal in mind and then
[38:37.200 --> 38:40.400]  work back monthly as to what you need to reach that goal.
[38:40.400 --> 38:44.600]  Second one is they would longer term savings and we've talked about this before, but of course,
[38:44.600 --> 38:49.160]  the easiest way to save long term for retirement is if your company has a 401k.
[38:49.160 --> 38:53.960]  That comes out pre-tags before that check even hits your bank and that is a good thing.
[38:53.960 --> 38:55.680]  So, that's a little tax break too.
[38:55.680 --> 39:00.400]  If you're not investing in your company's 401k, start.
[39:00.400 --> 39:04.000]  If you're already investing, but you're not maxing out, raise that percentage and keep
[39:04.000 --> 39:06.840]  raising it until you get to that maximum.
[39:06.840 --> 39:11.720]  Other fun ideas to buy a stock or a cup of shares a stock in a company that pays dividends
[39:11.720 --> 39:15.600]  and set up what's called a dividend reinvestment plan as that dividend comes in don't take
[39:15.600 --> 39:19.600]  the cash, let it buy more stock and then set it aside and forget about it.

[43:21.120 --> 43:24.120]  So, Lee, tell me what you can about this.
[43:24.120 --> 43:29.120]  Well, what I can say is that a National Park Service Ranger,
[43:29.120 --> 43:35.120]  Margaret Anderson, 34 years old, was shot today by a gunman in the park.
[43:35.120 --> 43:42.120]  It began as just a normal traffic stop when he failed to pull over another Ranger radio to head.
[43:42.120 --> 43:49.120]  And Margaret Anderson set up a blockade with her patrol vehicle to intercept him.
[43:49.120 --> 43:55.120]  And when he arrived at that spot, he got out and shot, shatily shot her.
[43:55.120 --> 43:57.120]  He then fled into the woods.
[43:57.120 --> 44:03.120]  So, the situation that we have now is a gunman who is in the park somewhere,
[44:03.120 --> 44:05.120]  has not yet been apprehended.
[44:05.120 --> 44:09.120]  And it's completely this gunman is on foot when you say fled into the woods.
[44:09.120 --> 44:12.120]  That's correct. He's on foot. He left his car behind.
[44:12.120 --> 44:16.120]  And is on foot somewhere in the park.
[44:16.120 --> 44:21.120]  And so, by way of checking the registration of the car, et cetera,
[44:21.120 --> 44:26.120]  does that any way match up with the identity of who you believe is suspect is?
[44:26.120 --> 44:32.120]  Well, we have no way of know that because we don't know if he is the registered owner of the vehicle.
[44:32.120 --> 44:35.120]  We have information about the owner of the vehicle, but we're not sure.
[44:35.120 --> 44:39.120]  If it's the same person or not, we don't have a description of the person.
[44:39.120 --> 44:45.120]  Since there was nobody else at the scene when he stopped and shot the park Ranger.
[44:45.120 --> 44:51.120]  And is the park closed? What about other people members of the public who may be in that park?
[44:51.120 --> 44:53.120]  The park is closed.
[44:53.120 --> 44:57.120]  And we have been evacuating visitors, but we do still have people in the park.
[44:57.120 --> 45:03.120]  There are people who are out of snowshoeing or skiing who are still coming back in from their afternoon.
[45:03.120 --> 45:09.120]  And we also have about 85 park visitors who are in our main park visitor center.
[45:09.120 --> 45:16.120]  And we're holding them there until we believe that it's safe for them to drive out of the park.
[45:16.120 --> 45:21.120]  Typically, I'm a day like this. You do have a lot of snow showers and skiers there.
[45:21.120 --> 45:24.120]  Yeah, we do. It's a nice day. It's a holiday weekend.
[45:24.120 --> 45:29.120]  And we would typically have hundreds of people in the park who would be out enjoying the beautiful scenery and the weather.
[45:29.120 --> 45:34.120]  And what about searchers in the air by helicopter? What are the weather conditions there for that?
[45:34.120 --> 45:39.120]  Our conditions are good, but it's three hours. It's just a few hours now until darkness.
[45:39.120 --> 45:45.120]  So, you know, the end of daylight will be the limiting factor in terms of being able to.
[45:45.120 --> 45:47.120]  And continue searching.
[45:47.120 --> 45:53.120]  And what more might you be able to tell me about Margaret Anderson 34 years old who was shot and killed?
[45:53.120 --> 46:02.120]  She's a dedicated public servant, very committed to visitors to the park and to helping to protect park resources.
[46:02.120 --> 46:10.120]  Her husband is also a ranger at Mount Rainier and they have two small children of four year old in a one year old.
[46:10.120 --> 46:18.120]  So, it's a horrible tragedy. It's a terrible loss of life of somebody who had dedicated herself to serving the public.

[54:26.120 --> 54:32.120]  The numbers are incredible because you can see 12 inches plus across parts of Michigan.

[54:34.120 --> 54:35.120]  That's where the blizzard warning is.
[54:35.120 --> 54:37.120]  And it's right in the northern part of Michigan.
[54:37.120 --> 54:39.120]  That's where we're going to see some of those lake effects.
[54:39.120 --> 54:42.120]  No bands really be fierce and along with the heavy snow.
[54:42.120 --> 54:45.120]  Of course, comes the gusty winds when you're talking about lake effects.
[54:45.120 --> 54:45.120]  No maker.
[54:45.120 --> 54:48.120]  And what that means is you'll have blowing and drifting snow.
[54:48.120 --> 54:52.120]  That will create snow drifts that could be even higher than the highest snowfall.
[54:52.120 --> 54:53.120]  Total accumulation.
[54:53.120 --> 54:55.120]  So travel in northern Michigan is just dangerous.
[54:55.120 --> 54:57.120]  If you can avoid it, I would recommend it.
[54:57.120 --> 54:58.120]  Notice the lake effects.
[54:58.120 --> 55:00.120]  Know those stretching all the way into upstate New York.
[55:00.120 --> 55:03.120]  These advisories for winds show that we are looking at fierce winds.
[55:03.120 --> 55:06.120]  Again, that will pile the snow that's falling.
[55:06.120 --> 55:09.120]  We even know the accumulation might be a burst of sudden snow in some areas.
[55:09.120 --> 55:13.120]  And dry in others, which is so a random way it is for the localization of lake effects.
[55:13.120 --> 55:16.120]  No, we are going to see those snow pile up a little bit more.
[55:16.120 --> 55:18.120]  This is a forecast radar picture, not actual radar.
[55:18.120 --> 55:20.120]  I just want to show you over the next 48 hours.

[55:31.120 --> 55:33.120]  You can see that pink dot in northern Michigan.
[55:33.120 --> 55:35.120]  That's where we are looking at a foot or snow plus.
[55:35.120 --> 55:40.120]  Again, it will be even more fierce as we go through the day when we get some more wind blowing in.
[55:40.120 --> 55:43.120]  And the reason that we're getting so much snow with this lake effects.
[55:43.120 --> 55:45.120]  No machine is a couple different factors.
[55:45.120 --> 55:48.120]  We have very cold air coming over warmer waters of the Great Lakes.
[55:48.120 --> 55:50.120]  And the water temperatures are still pretty warm.

[55:51.120 --> 55:54.120]  It may not seem very warm, but it's warmer than the land.
[55:54.120 --> 55:59.120]  So the really the cold air gathers that moisture that warm moist air right above the Great Lakes.

[56:02.120 --> 56:05.120]  And it just dumps it heavy and hard across this region.
